Rain Halts Monday Roland Garros Play for Second Time; Nadal-Zverev Match Set to Start Under Roof

Sinner Defeats Eubanks, Tsitsipas Leading Fucsovics on Court Suzanne-Lenglen

Heavy rain has interrupted Monday's play for a second time at Roland Garros.

After an earlier delay of approximately one hour, play on uncovered courts was suspended again shortly before 3 p.m. at the clay-court major in Paris. Nine men’s singles matches that had already started are currently on hold. Play continues on Court Suzanne-Lenglen, where the retractable roof has been deployed, and former finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas has claimed the first set against Marton Fucsovics. Earlier, Jannik Sinner completed a 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 win against Christopher Eubanks under the roof.

On Court Philippe-Chatrier, which also has a roof, 14-time champion Rafael Nadal’s highly anticipated Lexus ATP Head2Head clash with fourth seed Alexander Zverev is set to get underway shortly.

In rain-affected matches, 21st seed Felix Auger-Aliassime is in a strong position in his opening-round match against Yoshihito Nishioka on Court 6. The Canadian will serve for the match at 6-2, 6-4, 5-4 when play resumes. Another suspended match is Ben Shelton’s clash with home favorite Hugo Gaston. Shelton, the 21st seed, recovered well after dropping the first set on Court 14, leading 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 3-2 before play was stopped for the second time.
